Welcome Back!
After a serious mountain bike accident at the end of August 2014 we are pleased to announce that Matthew is back and ready to train. Yes it has definitely been a long hard road to get to this point.
For those who do not know, in August Matthew was dialing it in with his cycling coach one week before starting his competitive season on the cyclocross scene. Miss fortune and a mistake saw Matthew take a 10ft drop with his Mountain Bike onto his head.
Injuries incurred were :
Cut head
Concussion
Fractured first rib
Punctured lung
Seperated shoulder
Fracture in the thoracic spine (T2)
Fracture in C3
Hematoma on C2/C3/C4
Torn neck ligaments
2 Days in the ICU, 1 day on a surgical ward, 9 hour drive home to get an MRI done on his neck. 7 weeks in a full neck collar 24/7, continued recovery with physical therapy, acupuncture, massages, visits with Sean from The Balanced Spine and of course not forgetting FOUNDATION TRAINING, are all helping him get back to full recovery.
Mathew strongly believes that without his continued Foundation Training over the past 2 years and his fitness he would either not be with us today or paralyzed. Foundation Training has also been pivotal in his recovery of which he is much further along than anyone could have hoped for. Already back on the bike and looking forward to regaining full fitness levels ready for the next race season.
If you are interested in Foundation Training and want to know more or sign up for a session please contact us at [email protected] or feel free to sign up for our Newsletter to keep up to date with the comings and goings of MaxLifeOut fit.
